Ingredients:


12 oz (340g) penne pasta

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup vodka

1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions:


Cook the Penne:


Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Sauté Onions and Garlic:


In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes translucent. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add Vodka:


Carefully pour in the vodka and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes to cook off the alcohol and reduce the sauce.

Stir in Crushed Tomatoes:


Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet, stirring to combine with the onion and vodka mixture. Bring it to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.

Add Heavy Cream:


Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Let the sauce simmer for an additional 5 minutes, or until it thickens slightly. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Combine with Pasta:


Add the cooked penne pasta to the sauce in the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the creamy tomato sauce.

Serve:
